What we learned from the Palisades and Eaton Fires
This is a subtitle for your new post
When the Palisades and Eaton fires swept through those communities in January of 2025, it was absolutely surreal. To be able to see, meet with and work with families in those communities was a genuine honor. Seeing it in person hits a lot harder than watching on the news or social media. The sub group of customers we worked with were the ones with homes still standing. And those people had homes and businesses that had been exposed to smoke, soot, ash, heavy metals, lead, asbestos and debris from their communities burning down. We spent 18+ months working in wildfire-affected communities, helping homeowners clean, restore, work with insurance carriers, get customers reimbursed for personal property and manage all sorts of living situations. A few topics to cover in the next few "blogs"
- A Home Does not have to burn to be affected
- People's belongings matter
- Cleaning is not about making something "look" clean
- Navigating Insurance and what is covered vs not
- The whole timeline with many contractors and trades involved
- Developing relationships with the people you meet and work for
More than anything, the last point really is the most important for us. We get the opportunity to meet, and know people in great detail. When you are responsible for peoples homes and all their belongings you get to know them, very well, in most cases. Seeing people go through such an incredibly difficult time, and to be able to play a small role in getting them back home was a great experience. To all those we worked with on these projects, thank you for the opportunity.
